Madonna col Bambino e i santi Girolamo e Francesco (pala Suxena)
The “Virgin and Child with Saints Jerome and Francis” (Ferrara, Pinacoteca Nazionale), also known as "Pala Suxena" -since it was commissioned to Garofalo by the Suxena family- was originally kept in the altar of the Immaculate Conception in the church of Santo Spirito in Ferrara. Two figures allowed the dating of this work: the number “1514” and the letters “DEZE” (December), written on the little step where St. Jerome poses his feet. Universally recognized as one of Garofalo's masterpieces, the altarpiece reveals an incredible harmony between Giorgione and Raphael styles.
