Garofalo executed the “Feeding the Multitude” (Khabarovsk, Far Eastern Art Museum) for the monastery of San Bernardino in Ferrara, between 1528 and 1531. The painter modernized this episode by portraying the cloister nuns while distributing loaves and fishes that Christ, the central fulcrum of the work, had multiplied to feed the multitude of 5000 people, who crowd the left side of the composition.
