The personality of this anonymous artist was recognized only to the mid-twentieth century; he takes its name from the twelve tables with the Apostles kept in the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Ferrara.
Minor artist, devoid of Garofalo classical composure as of Dosso oestrus, however, he was influenced by both.
It was active in Ferrara since the twenties of the sixteenth century, and the altarpiece of the Church of San Francesco (RO) with the "Baptism of Christ" (dated 1542, ) is his last known work.
